Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the national leader of the Turkmen people, Speaker of Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is in Kazan to attend the Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum International Economic forum.
The two leaders discussed matters concerning the further strengthening of the strategic partnership and cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan in trade and economy, cultural and humanitarian affairs, and other fields.
They emphasised the importance of the meeting of the upcoming meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council, to be held in October under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan.
