Vladimir Putin is in Tashkent on a state visit at the invitation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Before the talks, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev officially welcomed Vladimir Putin at the Presidential Palace. During the ceremony, the leaders introduced the members of their delegations.
The talks begun with a restricted-format conversation and then continued in expanded format. The parties discussed the current state and future development of the strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Uzbekistan and exchanged views on pressing regional issues.
Following the talks, the two leaders signed a joint statement. A package of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents on cooperation in various fields was also signed.
In particular, the documents signed include joint action plans to deepen industrial cooperation, with the aim of boosting trade and expanding interaction in high-priority spheres of Russia-Uzbekistan cooperation and an intergovernmental agreements on Russia’s technical assistance to the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of metrology, on cooperation in joint film production, and on cooperation in ensuring the sanitary-epidemiological well-being of the population.
Furthermore, a contract was signed for the design, delivery and construction of a small nuclear power plant in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Other documents pertain to holding joint tenders in the sphere of scientific research and digital cooperation in plant quarantine; expanding tourism between Russia and Uzbekistan; cooperating in the field of culture; regulating medicines, medical devices and high-tech treatment methods on the territory of both countries, as well as exchanging experience in establishing and developing the aviation systems industry, as well as analysing the legal basis for their use to facilitate more efficient socioeconomic development.
The President of Russia and the President of Uzbekistan also made statements for the press.
