Telephone conversation with President of France Emmanuel Macron

November 2, 2017

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of France Emmanuel Macron at the initiative of the French side.

Vladimir Putin briefed Mr Macron on the results of his visit to Iran. In this context, the leaders spoke in favour of implementing in good faith the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action to resolve the situation around Iran’s nuclear programme. The unacceptability of unilaterally revising this major agreement was underscored.

In an exchange of views on Syria, the two presidents discussed in particular the results of the Seventh International Meeting on Syria that took place in Astana on October 30–31. Both parties noted the importance of joint efforts in the context of the political settlement of the Syria crisis.

Various aspects of bilateral cooperation were addressed, including the activity of the Trianon Dialogue civil society forum.

The conversation was business-like and constructive.
