President Vladimir Putin sent Germany’s President Joachim Gauck and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulatory messages on the Day of German Unity, a national holiday.
The President of Russia remarked on the dynamic development of friendly Russian-German relations in all key areas, the expansion of the two countries’ political dialogue, as well as increases in their economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation. Mr Putin also praised the [organisation of] the Year of Russia in Germany and Year of Germany in Russia that were held in 2012 and 2013.
Vladimir Putin expressed his confidence that Germany’s new government will continue the policy of strengthening the Russian-German strategic partnership. He also noted that topical issues related to further expanding bilateral relations and international cooperation will be discussed in detail during Russian-German interstate consultations to be held this year.
