Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Deauville to participate in Russian-German-French summit

October 18, 2010, Deauville

The main topic of the meeting between Dmitry Medvedev, President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel will be building a system of an equal and indivisible security in the Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian regions that will allow for a collective response to common challenges and threats.

The three leaders will discuss the President of Russia’s initiative of signing a new, all-encompassing European Security Treaty and examine approaches to a new EU-Russia framework agreement. The leaders will also address their trilateral cooperation within the G8 and G20 and exchange views on current international and regional matters, including the Iranian nuclear issue and the Middle East peace settlement.

After the official welcoming ceremony, Dmitry Medvedev, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Angela Merkel had a working dinner. The summit’s main events are planned for October 19, 2010.
