The two Presidents also exchanged views on European security issues, taking into consideration Russia’s European Security Treaty initiative, the new NATO strategic concept, the situation in the Middle East, and the situation with the Iranian nuclear programme.
The two Presidents concluded their talks by overseeing the signing of a number of cooperation agreements in the oil, gas, aerospace, and transport sectors.
Mr Medvedev and Mr Sarkozy then made press statements and answered journalists’ questions.
Earlier in the day, the two Presidents met with members of the Russian and French business communities, where they discussed implementation of the most important joint projects and the prospects for future cooperation between the two countries’ leading companies.
