Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou-Nguesso. The conversation was initiated by the Congolese side.
Mr Sassou-Nguesso congratulated Mr Putin on his inauguration as President of Russia, and Mr Putin congratulated Mr Sassou-Nguesso on the upcoming Africa Day celebrated on May 25.
The two presidents exchanged views on current bilateral relations issues, expressed satisfaction with the current state of their mutually advantageous cooperation, and agreed to develop ties in a range of areas, including the energy sector and humanitarian contacts.
The two leaders also spoke in favour of intensifying the Russian-Congolese political dialogue and high-level contacts between the two countries.
