Vladimir Putin sent condolences to President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Jair Messias Bolsonaro in connection with the death of the great Brazilian football player Pele.
The message reads, in part:
“Edson Arantes do Nascimento was an outstanding son of the Brazilian nation. Thanks to his talent, unique skill, and his beautiful and mesmerising game, football has become a favourite sport for millions of people around the world, including Russia.
I was fortunate to personally meet that wonderful man, and I will forever cherish the memory of our meeting. Please convey my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of the legendary Pele, as well as to all citizens of your country.”
