Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Mario Draghi, at the initiative of the Italian side.
The parties focused on the developments in Afghanistan. Both sides emphasised the importance of preventing a humanitarian catastrophe and ensuring the Afghan people’s security. Vladimir Putin and Mario Draghi noted the need to further counter the spread of terrorist ideology and the drug threat emanating from the territory of Afghanistan.
The President of Russia and the Prime Minister of Italy supported consolidating international efforts, including within the G20, which Italy currently chairs, to help establish peace and stability in Afghanistan.
They underscored their shared interest in expanding mutually beneficial ties between Russia and Italy in various fields
The parties agreed to continue contacts.
