Vladimir Putin sent a message of condolences to President of Ethiopia Sahle-Work Zewde and Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed in connection with the crash of a passenger aircraft outside Addis Ababa.
The Russian President’s message reads, in part:
“Please accept my heartfelt condolences in connection with the death of the passengers and crew of the airplane that crashed on takeoff from Addis Ababa airport. I ask that you to pass on words of sympathy and support to the victims’ friends and families. Let them stay courageous in this mournful hour.”
The Ethiopian Airlines plane was en route from the country’s capital Addis Ababa to the capital of Kenya Nairobi. 157 people died.
