The United Russia leaders presented to Dmitry Medvedev their list of candidates for the post of governor of Tula Region, and President of the United Russia Supreme Council Boris Gryzlov briefed the President on the primaries underway for candidates from the National Front in the run-up to the State Duma election.
Mr Medvedev said that as a new system for choosing leaders and selecting the candidates best prepared to run for parliament, the practice of holding primaries is useful for United Russia and for developing Russia’s political system in general.
Taking part in the meeting were President of the United Russia Supreme Council and Speaker of the State Duma Boris Gryzlov, Head of the United Russia Central Executive Committee Andrei Vorobyov, Acting Secretary of the Presidium of United Russia’s General Council Sergei Neverov, and First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Vladislav Surkov.
