Meeting with Head of Republic of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov

August 5, 2016, The Kremlin, Moscow

The Head of Bashkortostan informed the President about the region’s socioeconomic development over the first six months of 2016.

Mr Khamitov reported that there was progress in many areas of development. This concerns industrial production, and tax and non-tax revenue. Preparations for harvesting have begun.

Bashkortostan has climbed from the middle to the top of the Russian regions’ investment climate rating. Thus, a large wood processing facility will be launched this year. One of Bashkortostan’s plants is developing the PD-14 engine (only three plants in the world produce this type of engine). Small and medium-sized businesses are growing. Mr Khamitov also noted that there are some good trends in attracting investment into agriculture.

The region is working on broadening industrial cooperation. Many medium-sized petrochemical companies have united into clusters. There is also a fine chemicals cluster, and a geophysics cluster. Companies are creating informal associations and entering the market together.
