Vladimir Putin approved a list of instructions issued following a meeting on spring flood and wild fire relief efforts in the Urals and Siberia, held in Irkutsk on May 15, 2017.
Instructions to the Government of the Russian Federation concern, among other things, the need to provide local governments in Buryatia, Irkutsk and Tyumen regions with the necessary assistance in dealing with the consequences of spring floods and wild fires within their territories and on the distribution of federal budget allocations among Russian regions for carrying out specific initiatives related to forestry.
The Government was also instructed to work with the local regional governments in the related regions to devise proposals on engaging organisations and people in efforts to combat wild fires.
Instructions to the Government and executive bodies in the affected regions also include assessing and compensating property damage caused by natural disasters.
The Russian Government together with the Government of Buryatia were instructed to find out whether the Ulan-Ude–Barguzin road can be renovated.
The Government together with the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) were instructed to submit proposals on establishing the Central Aerial Forest Protection Base in the region.
Other instructions and recommendations issued to the Government of the Russian Federation and the local governments in Buryatia, Irkutsk and Tyumen regions, were related, among other things, to arranging holidays for children and families with children from affected communities, clearing and repairing damage caused by natural disasters to infrastructure, residential buildings, social institutions, and providing housing to people who lost housing in natural disasters along with other types of public assistance.
