Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants and guests of the ice hockey match held to mark the 70th birth anniversary of Akhmad-hadji Kadyrov.
The message reads, in part:
“In August this year, Akhmad-hadji Kadyrov, the first President of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia, would have turned 70. It is largely thanks to the courage of this outstanding statesman, his deep love for his homeland and sincere care for people’s wellbeing that the Constitution of the Chechen Republic was adopted, a firm strategy for restoring law and order in the republic was taken and a reliable foundation was laid for resolving the most important issues of the region’s development.
It is important that Chechnya residents cherish the memory of their great compatriot and rely on the wealth of his intellectual and spiritual legacy in their endeavours. This is why Akhmad-hadji Kadyrov’s birth anniversary is widely celebrated in the republic and across Russia. A large number of patriotic, public, cultural and sports events are held to mark this important date, and your ice hockey match undoubtedly is among them.
I am sure that the match will be held at a high organisational level in a friendly and informal atmosphere, and that the Akhmat and Hockey Legends teams will impress numerous fans with a spectacular and dynamic game.”
