Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Head of Karachayevo-Circassia Rashid Temrezov to discuss prospects for the development of the new Arkhyz ski resort. Mr Temrezov also briefed the President on the socioeconomic situation in the republic, specifically pre-school education and the labour market.
The head of the republic told the President, among other things, that the first stage of the Arkhyz ski resort started operating in test mode at the end of last year. Some 35 thousand tourists visited the resort during the New Year holidays alone. At this point two hotels and two cableways are in operation there. By the start of the new skiing season, their number is expected to triple.
The head of Karachayevo-Circassia also reported that the construction of the largest cement factory in European Russia with a 4 million ton capacity was launched in the republic last year.
