Meeting on readiness of sports facilities for 2014 Winter Olympics

September 16, 2013

Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the readiness of sports facilities for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Colleagues,

An enormous, simply tremendous amount of work has been completed in preparation for the Olympic Games. As we have already said many times, this is to ensure that the results will be as expected. And the result we expect is a perfectly held Olympic Games.

In order to be certain that we achieve this goal, we must work efficiently during the final phase of implementation. It is now mid-September, so we have exactly five months until the start of the Olympic Games.

Let me repeat: a great deal has been done, but there is still much left to do. So the remaining five months are crucial in terms of the final preparations for all the Olympic events.

This includes completing construction of the Olympic facilities, reorganising the city of Sochi itself, and ensuring that the infrastructure and communications systems are as they should be. As you all know, there are many components.

Let’s once again hear about the current state of the work, and where we stand today.
