Beginning of the meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr Director General, it is a pleasure to meet you once again.
Thank you for taking part in the regular international forum [ATOMEXPO] organised by the Russian company Rosatom.
We have always supported the IAEA, from the very start, and now we are very actively cooperating with the organisation you are heading. You know that Russia is one of the key players in the development of nuclear energy in the world.
We fully abide by all our commitments, and all the work that Russia is doing in the field of nuclear power development strictly conforms to all the limitations pertaining to the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
I am very pleased to note that the IAEA also acts strictly within the limits of its charter and has earned deep international respect for its objectivity as well as professionalism.
I am very happy to have this meeting with you, Mr Director General, and to discuss all the current matters concerning our cooperation.
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano: Mr President, it is a great honour for me to meet you again. I have just visited the ATOMEXPO, and I was very much impressed by the very advanced technology, not only in nuclear power plant areas, but in many other areas related to nuclear.
The IAEA is very grateful for the support from Russia not only for its financial contribution, but also training people and helping us to strengthen nuclear security, helping cancer control and especially making very capable Russian nationals available for us.
The IAEA is a technical organisation, but we are dealing with very sensitive issues. We always try our best to act impartially, factually and professionally.
