Dmitry Medvedev inspected segment of Primorskoye Koltso Coastal Ring Road

November 29, 2011, Kaliningrad Region

In the Kaliningrad Region, Dmitry Medvedev inspected the fourth stage of the Primorskoye Koltso Coastal Ring Road. This segment's construction has been completed near the village of Olshanka.

The road will provide access to the Riga-Kaliningrad-Gdansk trans-European transport corridor. The total length of the four-lane road is over 180 kilometres.

Dmitry Medvedev spoke with the builders employed in the road’s construction and thanked them for the high quality of work.

The Primorskoye Koltso Coastal Ring Road is being built to promote the development of the Tourism and Recreation Special Economic Zone in the Kaliningrad Region and to boost its economic potential. The road connects the Khrabrovo International Airport, currently under reconstruction, the resort town of Zelenogradsk and the recreation area on the Curonian Spit with an international crossing point near the Lithuanian town of Nida.

The road’s fourth stage is over 25 kilometres in length. It stretches within three to four kilometres from the Baltic Sea coast and connects the cities of Svetlogorsk, Pionersky and Baltiysk.
