State of emergency has been lifted in the Republic of Mordovia, Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow Regions

August 20, 2010

Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu briefed Dmitry Medvedev on the situation with the wildfires in Russia and the fire-fighting measures that have been taken.

Taking Mr Shoigu’s report into consideration, the President gave the order to lift the state of emergency in Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow Regions, and in the Republic of Mordovia.

The state of emergency remains in place now only in Ryazan Region, due to the difficult situation with peat bog fires there.
