Visit to Concern Morinformsystem-Agat skills centre

While on a working trip to Vladivostok, Vladimir Putin visited the skills centre at Concern Morinformsystem-Agat JSC, at the Far East Federal University, where he looked at new transport and robotics technology.

General Director and Chief Designer Georgy Antsev told Mr Putin about the prospects for developing high-speed sea and river transport in the Far East. The company calculates that using new model ships would considerably cut travel time for passengers and freight. 

The President looked over the automated systems the company designs. The company initially developed systems for the defence sector but they can also be used in the civilian sector, in particular, for combating oil spills in the oil sector. The devices can be installed on many kinds of equipment, including drones and auto-piloted ships. These new devices have many potential applications, including in ice exploration and atmospheric pollution control. Mr Antsev said that contracts have already been signed for the systems to be used in practice.

Concern Morinformsystem-Agat JSC began as a design bureau established in 1942 to develop mines and torpedoes. Over the years since it began, it has grown into the big Agat research and development group, with its main focus on developing digital computing technology for marine vessels and installations, and designing automated combat control systems for submarines and surface ships. In 2004, in accordance with a presidential executive order, Concern Morinformsystem-Agat JSC was established, and over recent years has incorporated other companies and production facilities working in this area. 

Today, the concern’s main areas of activity are development, production, warranty service, upgrading and repair of integrated multifunctional ship management systems, automation equipment for naval force management, naval missile and artillery control systems, combat information and control systems for surface ships and submarines, shipborne automated countermine operations control systems, ship- and shore-based multifunctional radar systems, and also organising licenced production of systems, including for export.
