Vladimir Putin met with Acting Governor of Ryazan Region Oleg Kovalev and local residents, who included public activists and education, culture and defence industry professionals.
The meeting focused on the region's development prospects, in particular with regard to the defence industry. Vladimir Putin noted that the state defence order should be filled by Russian companies. At the same time, the defence industry must remain competitive.
Other issues discussed included support for large families, inter-ethnic relations and problems faced by reserve museums.
Another topic raised at the meeting was international relations and developments in the Middle East. Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia's position is to promote positive change in all countries, without imposing its own solutions. According to the President, strong nations should not impose their own rules of conduct and code of ethics on other countries. Any actions must take into account local history, traditions and religious beliefs, the President said.
