The President was shown a model of a launch facility at Vostochny Space Launch Centre for Soyuz launch vehicles. Mr Putin also saw the stages of the Soyuz 2-1v launch vehicle, the first light Russian rocket with a liquid-fuel engine.
General Director of Progress Alexander Kirilin briefed the President on plans to develop by 2021 a two-stage light launch vehicle, Soyuz-5, which would use liquefied natural gas as fuel.
Mr Putin also looked over the project to build a new short-haul plane, Rysachok, designed to carry 10–16 passengers or cargoes of up to two tons in weight.
