Law signed on date of elections in Republic of Crimea and City of Sevastopol

The President signed Federal Constitutional Law On Amending Federal Constitutional Law On the Accession of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation and the Creation of New Constituent Entities within the Russian Federation – the Republic of Crimea and the Federal City of Sevastopol.

The Federal Constitutional Law establishes that elections to the State Council of the Republic of Crimea – the Parliament of the Republic of Crimea – and the Legislative Assembly of the City of Sevastopol will be held on the second Sunday of September 2014. The Head of the Republic of Crimea and the Governor of the City of Sevastopol will be elected by the deputies of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea and the deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the City of Sevastopol of the new convocation no later than December 2014.

In particular, the law also establishes that the use of the Ukrainian monetary unit, the hryvnia, is permitted for payments on the territories of the Republic of Crimea and the Federal City of Sevastopol until June 1, 2014.
