On April 30, the President will visit the B.P. Konstantinov St Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute in Gatchina (Leningrad Region), where he will see how work is going on developing the PIK high-flux research neutron-beam reactor.
Mr Putin will also chair a meeting of the Presidential Council for Science and Education on developing a modern scientific research infrastructure in Russia.
Also on April 30, the President will take part in a meeting of the Russian Geographical Society’s Board of Trustees at the Konstantin Palace in St Petersburg. The meeting will review the results of 2012 and discuss the society’s development plans and prospects for the coming years.

On May 1, Mr Putin will award the first titles of Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation. The award ceremony will take place at the Konstantin Palace. The Hero of Labour title is awarded to people with outstanding achievements in state and public work, and who have made a significant contribution to Russia’s socioeconomic development, including to developing industry, transport, construction, science, culture, education, and healthcare.

On May 2, the President will take part in the opening ceremony for the Mariinsky Theatre’s new building in St Petersburg.
On the same day, Mr Putin will visit the Maria Savina Theatre Veterans’ Home, where he will inspect the reconstruction work currently underway and will meet with theatre personalities and veterans.
In the run-up to the opening of the Alexandrinsky Theatre’s New (Small) Stage, President Putin will visit the new building and meet with the theatre’s artistic director, Valery Fokin.
