Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Tomsk Region Governor Sergei Zhvachkin to discuss the social and economic situation in the region.
The Governor described the situation in the region as stable: industrial production over the previous year and since the beginning of 2015 has gone up by 1 percent, the processing industry and wood processing – by 70 percent, plastics and petrochemical production – by 30 percent, and machine building – by 16 percent.
Mr Zhvachkin said the per capita GNP in Tomsk Region is higher than in other regions of Siberia.
Speaking of the social situation, the Governor told the President that the birth rate continues growing and the death rate – falling.
The official noted that although the world economic crisis affects the regional economy, it only creates individual complications.
