Meeting with Tver Region Governor Igor Rudenya

June 25, 2019, The Kremlin, Moscow

Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with Tver Region Governor Igor Rudenya to discuss socioeconomic situation in the region.

Speaking about the main economic indicators, the Governor noted, in particular, growth in industrial production, agriculture, retail trade and regional GDP. The indicators in the construction of housing, schools and kindergartens have also improved.

Changes to the Tver city master plan were approved in order to preserve the historical centre of the city, because Tver is the second city after St Petersburg that received a general plan of development at the initiative of Catherine the Great.

There is an increase in the region’s consolidated budget: 13 percent growth, including tax revenue, and 12 percent in non-tax revenue. All the region’s commercial loans have been repaid with Finance Ministry budget loans, and the surplus accounted for over six billion rubles.

Igor Rudenya also informed Vladimir Putin about the sixth Rivers of Russia National Tourist Forum that will be held in the village of Zavidovo, Tver Region, in early July. According to Igor Rudenya, Russia’s programme to support tourism has been launched this year. A new integrated transport hub will be built as part of this programme.

It will connect Moscow with the Zavidovo resort and the Sea of Moscow (Mare Moscoviense ) and will serve as a port for vessels navigating the Volga River, including the new ones built in Astrakhan, such as Pyotr Veliky and the next vessels in this series.

This means the port will connect St Petersburg with Astrakhan and the Caspian Sea. This is a new joint project of the Tver Region together the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) and the Russian Government.
