Vladimir Putin will visit Sakhalin Region and Trans-Baikal Territory

The President will hold a meeting on developing the Sakhalin Region in the region’s capital, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, on July 16. Participants in the meeting will include the heads of the Economic Development, Finance, Energy, Health, Transport, and Regional Development ministries, as well as representatives of the Federal Agency for Fishery and major companies such as Rosneft, Russian Railways, RusHydro, Gazprom and Aeroflot. Mr Putin will speak via video linkup with workers on the Orlan drilling platform off northern Sakhalin. 

The President will also visit the Uspenovsky training ground to watch the military exercises underway there as part of comprehensive inspections of troops in the Eastern Military District.

Later the same day, the President will arrive in Chita, where he will hold a meeting on social and economic development and developing business in the Trans-Baikal Territory. Those taking part in the meeting will include Presidential Aide Yury Trutnev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Siberian Federal District Viktor Tolokonsky, Regional Development Minister Igor Slyunyayev, Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukaev, the Energy, Transport, and Natural Resources and Environment ministers, the relevant ministers from the Trans-Baikal Territory government and regional business leaders. 

On July 17, Mr Putin will arrive at the Eastern Military District Tsugol 247 inter-forces training ground, where he will watch the final phase of large-scale military exercises involving troops from the Central and Eastern Military Districts. The Commander-in-Chief gave the order to carry out large-scale combat-readiness inspections of troops in the Central and Eastern Military Districts on July 13, 2013.
