On August 30, 2011 Sergei Naryshkin participated in festivities marking the 20th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Republic’s independence in Bishkek.
Speaking at a ceremonial assembly honouring the 20th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Republic’s independence, Sergei Naryshkin noted that “Russia is interested in Kyrgyzstan’s stable, dynamic progress on the path toward strengthening democratic statehood, lifting the national economy and developing the social sector.”
President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbayeva welcomed Sergei Naryshkin at the Ala Archa State Residence. During the working visit, the Chief of Staff of Russia’s Presidential Executive Office had meetings with Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev and Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Emilbek Kaptagaev. During these meetings, the politicians discussed matters pertaining to Russian-Kyrgyzstani cooperation.
Mr Naryshkin also participated in the opening of a memorial to writer Chingiz Aitmatov on Bishkek’s central square. “His works are clear and relatable for people of different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Chingiz Aitmatov created and maintained ties between Russian and Kyrgyzstani peoples,” Sergei Naryshkin noted.
