Meeting of the Government Commission on Preparations for the 200th Anniversary Celebration of Russia's Victory in the 1812 Patriotic War

April 3, 2012, Maloyaroslavets

During his trip to Maloyaroslavets, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov held a meeting of the Government Commission on Preparations for the 200th Anniversary Celebration of Russia's Victory in the 1812 Patriotic War.

Sergei Ivanov said that during the preparations a number of issues have been identified associated with the restoration of the historic appearance of the Borodino field and instructed meeting participants to address these issues as quickly as possible.

The Chief of Staff said that the federal and local authorities, public associations and civil society should actively use the preparations to instil patriotic values in young people. The publication of books, production of films and organisation of exhibitions must be part of the process.

The 1812 Patriotic War was Russia's war of liberation against Napoleon’s aggression. The largest battle of the 1812 Patriotic War between the Russian and French armies took place in the field of Borodino, located 125 km west of Moscow.
