A regular meeting of the Commission for Coordination of Work of the Federal Executive Authorities and Other State Agencies in Fulfilling the Russian Federation’s International Agreements on Fighting Corruption has been held.
The meeting of the Commission was attended by senior representatives of a number of federal executive bodies, the Prosecutor General’s Office, Investigative Committee, Central Election Commission, higher court bodies, leading scientific institutions, and the Presidential Executive Office.
The meeting discussed current cooperation with the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Task Force on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Deals. Measures were drafted for implementing the recommendations made by international experts through the GRECO and OECD Task Force anti-corruption monitoring mechanisms.
The meeting’s participants examined prospects for further cooperation with the European Union and heard a joint report from the Justice and Foreign ministries on progress toward Russia’s ratification of the Additional Protocol to the Criminal Law Convention on Corruption of January 27, 1999. The Commission recommended the drafting of a roadmap for bringing Russia’s legislation into lines with the Protocol’s requirements.
The Commission was also briefed on the organisation of the first Eurasian Anti-Corruption Forum in Moscow on May 30–31, 2012. This event will take the form of a major academic conference with Russian and foreign experts and scholars specialised in anti-corruption efforts taking part.
