November 26, 2012, Moscow

Adviser to the President Sergei Dubik chaired a meeting of the Commission for Coordination of Work of the Federal Executive Authorities and Other State Agencies in Fulfilling the Russian Federation’s International Agreements on Fighting Corruption.

The Commission operates under the Presidential Council for Countering Corruption. The meeting was attended by representatives of several federal bodies of executive authority, the higher judiciary, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Accounts Chamber and the Presidential Executive Office.

Commission members considered the prospects of the trilateral cooperation programme between Russia, the EU and the Council of Europe entitled Protecting Businesses from Corrupt Practices in the Russian Federation. Commissioner for Entrepreneurs’ Rights Boris Titov made a report on the issue.

The meeting also discussed the preliminary studies done by the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation on the preparation of the Eurasian Anti-Corruption Strategy and a mechanism for monitoring its implementation.

The Commission also heard the Foreign Ministry’s report on the feasibility of Russia's participation in the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), announced by the World Bank. According to the Foreign Ministry and the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, the requirements set out in the initiative have already been implemented in the existing Russian legislation and in the industry’s work.

In addition, meeting participants talked about preparations for the Russia-EU expert meeting on countering corruption and Russia’s chairmanship in the G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group.

After the discussion, the Commission issued instructions on the implementation of the adopted decisions.
