Presidential Aide and Secretary of the State Council Igor Levitin held a working meeting at the Biryuzovaya Katun tourism and recreation special economic zone as part of the preparations for the upcoming State Council Presidium meeting on developing Russia’s tourism and resort sector.
Taking part in the meeting were Governor of Altai Territory Alexander Karlin, Head of the Altai Republic and Prime Minister of the Altai Republic Alexander Berdnikov, Head of the Federal Tourism Agency Oleg Safonov, and General Director of Biryuzovaya Katun Tourism and Recreation Special Economic Zone Alexei Repin.
The meeting noted, in particular, that Altai Territory is one of the leaders in developing the tourism and resort sector and it has become one of the biggest centres in Russia’s health industry.
Biryuzovaya Katun Tourism and Recreation Special Economic Zone is developing recreation centres in the region, and development is also taking place under the 2011–2018 federal targeted programme for developing domestic and foreign tourism in Russia.
The meeting’s participants visited the sites at Biryuzovaya Katun and discussed cooperation with the business community and attracting potential investors for building tourism sites in special economic zones and as part of the federal targeted programme.
