Winners of 2015 Russian Federation National Awards

Winners of the 2015 Russian Federation National Awards for outstanding achievements in science and technology, literature and the arts, and humanitarian work have been announced.

The winners were announced at a special briefing at the Kremlin by Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko and member of the Presidential Council for Culture and the Arts Presidium and Presidential Adviser Vladimir Tolstoy.

The Russian Federation National Award in science and technology is conferred to:

Erik Galimov, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, director of the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, for the launch of carbon isotope geochemical research, the diamond formation theory, and research in petroleum geology and biogeochemical processes.

Sergei Lukyanov, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and director of the Translational Medicine Research Institute at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University under the Healthcare Ministry of the Russian Federation, and Yevgeny Sverdlov, member and councillor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, for the development and implementation of a technological complex for the analysis of compound genome structure and functions.

Sergei Nedospasov, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and head of the Laboratory of Molecular Mechanisms of Immune Responses at the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences for fundamental and applied works on molecular immunity mediators, including unprecedented biomedical models.

The Russian Federation National Award in literature and the arts is conferred to:

Lev Dodin, art director and director of the Maly Drama Theatre – Theatre of Europe, forhis contribution to the development of Russian and global theatre art.

Viktor Zakharchenko, artistic director and director of the Kuban Cossack Choir, for his contribution to preserving and developing the traditions of Russian music.

Sergei Ursulyak, film director, for his contribution to the development of Russian cinema art.

The Russian Federation National Award for outstanding achievements in humanitarian work is conferred to Valery Gergiev,general director and artistic director of the State Mariinsky Theatre.
