German Klimenko attended the opening of Russian Interactive Week

November 1, 2016

Presidential Adviser German Klimenko addressed the opening ceremony of the 9th Russian Interactive Week forum (RIW-2016), Russia’s biggest IT event.

Leonid Levin, head of the State Duma Committee for Information Policy, Technology and Communications, top officers of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media, the Federal Supervision Service for Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, leading experts of the Internet Development Institute, and representatives of the business and IT communities participated in the forum opening.

As Mr Klimenko noted, the forum has been of help to the internet community for eight years now as its members try to come to consensus on the key issues of internet development. He recalled that the Internet Development Institute was established on Vyacheslav Volodin’s initiative following a RIW forum. It has since won the reputation of the principal expert venue for discussions on key initiatives in internet development.

The presidential adviser expressed hope that internet will promote a breakthrough in medicine, on which the industry will focus next year. “It is our essential goal to get a firm foothold on that market. I hope next year will see a breakthrough in the internet industry, and we will find a niche in medicine and later in other economic fields.”

Mr Klimenko called on RIW participants to use the venue for a discussion of how the digital world will be likely to penetrate the traditional industries. “Internet’s 100 percent penetration of offline is our final target,” he said in closing.
