Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov chaired a meeting of the Presidential working group on implementing the research and publication project Russian State Acts. Russian State and Corporate Archives of the 13th−17th Centuries.
Head of the working group Magomedsalam Magomedov stressed the importance of objective and in-depth study of the Russian state acts as an abundant source of original data about politics, culture, the economy, military science and other aspects of the country’s past. The working group’s activity prioritises the availability of this knowledge to the public, preservation and expansion of the Russian archaeography that serves as a foundation for high-quality research into Russian history.
Head of the working group’s Research and Editorial Board, Director of the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Russian History Yury Petrov reported on the working group’s performance in 2016 and presented new results of the pilot projects, including the layouts and designs of the future multivolume edition of state acts concerning the history of western Russia.
Head of the Russian Archives Andrei Artizov reported on the modernisation of the federal state archives’ facilities for the purposes of the Russian State Acts project.
The meeting participants approved a plan of publications for the period through 2020 and issued several other resolutions.
In addition to the working group members, the meeting participants included Head of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organisations Mikhail Kotyukov, First Deputy Education and Science Minister Valentina Pereverzeva, Deputy Culture Minister Sergei Obryvalin, Head of the Moscow Archive Directorate Yaroslav Onopenko, Council Chairman at the Russian Foundation of Fundamental Research Vladislav Panchenko, Director General of the Russian Science Foundation Alexander Khlunov, Russian Academy of Sciences member Valery Tishkov, Director of the Russian Academy of Sciences Slavic Studies Institute Konstantin Nikiforov, Board Chairman at the Russian History Society Sergei Shakhrai, and representatives of the academic community and banking institutions.
