Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov chaired a meeting of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations Presidium.
Opening the meeting, Mr Magomedov thanked the Council Presidium members for participating in the 2018 election campaign, including as authorised representatives of presidential candidates.
“The multinational Russian people made their choice, and today we are witnessing a public consensus on the policy conducted by the President. I am convinced that we have long and painstaking work to do in order to meet the people's trust,“ he said.
Mr Magomedov noted that the implementation of the state national policy helped maintain the positive trend in interethnic relations throughout 2017. Thus, based on studies, the number of people who see the state of interethnic relations positively increased to 78.9 percent in 2017 (72.1 percent in 2014, 75.6 percent in 2015, and 76.4 percent in 2016).
Importantly, today, despite the heavy and unprecedented pressure of certain foreign forces, civil unity in Russia is becoming stronger, the Deputy Chief of Staff stressed.
Meeting participants adopted decisions on preparing organisational events related to presenting the presidential prize for contribution to strengthening the unity of the Russian nation.
Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov presented a report on drafting amendments to the National Policy Strategy of the Russian Federation through to 2025. Work on updating the strategy will continue.
