On April 25–28, a delegation of the National Anti-Corruption Commission of the Kingdom of Thailand led by its President Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit paid its first working visit to Russia. The Presidential Executive Office hosted the official talks between Chief of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Directorate Andrei Chobotov and his Thai partners held as part of the visit.
The parties, including Russian Foreign Ministry representatives, exchanged anti-corruption expertise from Russia and Thailand including preventive measures against corruption-related offences and conflicts of interest. They also discussed the prospects for further promoting bilateral cooperation in the framework of international anti-corruption forums, especially the United Nations Convention against Corruption and APEC’s Working Group on Countering Corruption and Providing Transparency. The proximity of the countries’ position on most issues on the anti-corruption agenda was noted.
Following the consultations, the parties signed a bilateral memorandum to increase Russia-Thailand anti-corruption cooperation in a number of important areas, such as updating organisational mechanisms for preventing corruption, holding scientific and practical seminars and research as well as promoting joint anti-corruption initiatives on the global stage.
The talks were held in a friendly and constructive manner. Thailand’s delegation invited representatives of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Directorate to Thailand.
