Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov took part in a session of the Congress of the Peoples of Russia marking the 20th anniversary of the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia national public organisation.
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office stressed the role of the Assembly in implementing federal policy on ethnic affairs, harmonising interethnic relations, uniting ethnocultural organisations of Russia, and promoting integration processes in the Eurasian space.
Mr Magomedov read out the President’s message to Congress participants which reads, in part: “The assembly, established 20 years ago, is designed to fulfil a high mission – to promote the unity of Russia’s multi-ethnic people, preserve its wealthy historical, cultural and spiritual heritage and ensure interethnic peace and accord in the country. Naturally, you concentrate on issues related to enhancing the constructive dialogue between national and local government agencies and ethnic and cultural associations.”
The Assembly of the Peoples of Russia was founded on July 8, 1998. Today it unites representatives of over 190 ethnic groups of the Russian Federation and has a large network of offices in 78 regions of Russia.
