Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Academy of Education Magomedsalam Magomedov attended the Academy’s general meeting.
Education Minister Olga Vasilyeva, Commissioner for Children’s Rights Anna Kuznetsova, Director General of Rossiya Segodnya Dmitry Kiselev and other officials attended the event.
In his remarks, Magomedsalam Magomedov underscored the important role the Russian Academy of Education plays as one of the leading international expert, scientific and educational bodies in addressing the priorities of national education and strengthening the Russian nation’s unity through the study and promotion of the Russian language as the official language and the languages of other peoples of Russia; in the training of teachers; and in conducting important scientific research.
Deputy Chief of Staff also pointed out the tremendous work done in recent years by the head of the Russian Academy of Education Lyudmila Verbitskaya, who decided to resign. Magomedsalam Magomedov expressed gratitude for her great contribution to the development of the Academy and informed the meeting participants that her work was rewarded at the highest level: Lyudmila Verbitskaya was awarded the Presidential Prize for her contribution to strengthening the unity of the Russian nation in 2018.
The general meeting elected Yury Zinchenko, dean of the psychology department at Moscow State University, the new president of the Academy.
