Adviser to the President and Special Presidential Representative for Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriyev chaired a planned meeting of the Inter-Agency Working Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development.
The participants discussed a draft national plan of adaptive measures in the face of unfavourable climate changes, which had been developed under the Government Directive On Approving a Plan to Implement a Set of Measures to Improve the State Regulation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions. The abovementioned plan is intended as a document that will lay the adaptive foundation of the country’s further development against the background of ongoing climate change.
Apart from this, the participants reviewed the course of preparations for the Russian delegation’s attendance of the 24th Session of the Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (Katowice, Poland, December 2–14, 2018) and the holding of parallel events within the framework of the Conference, such as the exhibition Green Mosaic of Russia. Environment-Friendly Power. Environmental Science. Environmental Future, the roundtable discussion Russian Investment to Transiting to Low-Emission Development, and events under the auspices of the Russian Federation Pavilion.
The Federal Service of State Statistics (Rosstat) delivered a report on information and statistical support for the monitoring of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
