The 24th Session of the Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is being held on December 2–14 in Katowice, Poland. The Russian delegation is led by Adviser to the President, Special Presidential Representative on Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriyev.
The main focus of the session is to prepare the rules to implement the Paris Agreement that are being developed under the auspices of the Convention with Russia’s full participation. It is expected that the rules will be adopted during the conference.
The summit participants will also discuss methodological, technological and financial issues of the ongoing cooperation between the parties to the Convention and the Kyoto Protocol.
Events to be held within the framework of the Conference include a series of topical seminars hosted by the Russian Federation’s pavilion, a round-table discussion on Russian investment into transitioning to development with low greenhouse gas emission and an exhibition titled Green Mosaic of Russia. Environmental Friendly Power. Environmental Science. Environmental Future. Participants include representatives of the executive branch, business organisations, academia and NGOs.
