Magomedsalam Magomedov attended Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Board meeting

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov took part in a meeting of the Board of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs in Moscow.

The agency’s results were summed up and 2019 plans outlined during the meeting.

In his speech, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office and Chairman of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations Magomedsalam Magomedov noted last year’s most important events in the implementation of Russia’s state ethnic policy until 2025. He also noted the agency’s results in implementing the decisions made during meetings of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations and called for several decisions of the President to be implemented as soon as possible.

Mr Magomedov focused on the adjustment and implementation of the state programme Implementation of State Ethnic Policy, including allocating money from the federal budget to organise events envisaged in the President’s instructions, and also noted that it was necessary to further improve the state information system for interethnic and inter-confessional relations in order to prevent conflict.

Mr Magomedov also stressed how important it was to strengthen Russian national civic identity and the unity of Russia’s multiethnic people as well as to preserve the cultural and language diversity and harmonise interethnic relations to reinforce the sovereignty and security of the state. He outlined the agency’s important role in addressing these issues.

Reports were presented by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs Oleg Melnichenko, Chairman of the State Duma Committee for Ethnic Affairs Ildar Gilmutdinov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Tishkov and representatives of federal ethnic and cultural autonomies, public organisations and businesses.
