Presidential Aide Igor Levitin chaired a meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Development of General Aviation and GLONASS-Based Navigation Information Technology .
Taking part in the meeting were Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region Sergei Morozov, heads of federal and regional authorities, representatives from several corporations and organisations in the aerospace and transport industries, and public and professional aviation organisations.
The participants in the meeting discussed proposals drafted by the federal executive authorities upon the instruction from the President on resolving development issues in general purpose aviation in the Russian Federation.
It was noted during the discussion that in order to lift existing development restrictions, excessive and overlapping regulations in aviation-related law need to be repealed and a number of new bylaws passed.
According to the commission members, prompt resolution of these issues will raise the efficiency of state regulation in the above area and insure the safe use of air space and aircraft both in commercial aviation and in general aviation.
