Adviser to the President and Special Presidential Representative on Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriyev held consultations with President Designate of the 26th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC Alok Sharma (UK), who was on a working visit to Moscow.
During the consultations, the parties shared their expectations for the 26th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the UNFCCC, which will be held in November 2021 in Glasgow. Ruslan Edelgeriyev and Alok Sharma agreed on the need to accelerate the progress and talks on a wide range of issues concerning the climate agenda, despite the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The consultations were positive and productive. Ruslan Edelgeriyev and Alok Sharma spoke in favour of continuing an open and objective discussion during the preparations for COP26.
