Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District Igor Shchegolev co-chaired a meeting with officials of the supreme executive bodies of the Central Federal District regions on implementing the State Ethnic Policy Strategy.
The meeting was attended by Governor of the Kaluga Region Vladislav Shapsha, as well as representatives of the Presidential Executive Office, the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs, federal, regional and municipal government bodies, education institutions, and research and expert communities.
In his remarks, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov noted positive trends in inter-ethnic relations in the majority of the regions of the Central Federal District and overall across the country. However, the special military operation in Ukraine has made certain tasks directly related to the State Ethnic Policy, especially in the border territories, more relevant. Higher conflict potential in certain regions, primarily caused by migration and changing ethnic composition, requires close attention.
The discussion participants stressed the importance of measures to strengthen the national civic identity and unity of the Russian nation and preserve the ethnic and cultural diversity by holding events of the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, and the importance of further improving the management and coordination of government bodies at all levels, monitoring developments, and devising common approaches to implementing the State Ethnic Policy Strategy.
Corresponding decisions were made following the meeting.
During their working trip, Magomedsalam Magomedov and Igor Shchegolev also had a working meeting with Governor of the Kaluga Region Vladislav Shapsha to discuss the region’s socioeconomic development and inter-ethnic agenda.
