Meeting in preparation for State Council Presidium session on developing tourism in Russia

July 11, 2022

Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin held a meeting to prepare for a State Council Presidium session on developing tourism in the Russian Federation.

The meeting was attended by Head of the Working Group on Preparations for the State Council Presidium session and Primorye Territory Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, Head of the Karachayevo-Circassian Republic Rashid Temrezov, Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Zarina Doguzova, Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourist Infrastructure Development Sergei Krivonosov and representatives of federal and regional government bodies, public organisations, development institutions and the business community.

Oleg Kozhemyako reported on an analysis of the Russian tourism-and-recreation sector. Based on this analysis, the Working Group will prepare a report for the State Council Presidium meeting.

In her report, Zarina Doguzova described the problems caused by efforts to develop domestic and inbound tourism at the federal and regional levels. It is necessary to improve legal regulation, introduce standardisation and certification of tourist services, create the appropriate infrastructure and facilities, provide resources and train personnel. Ms Doguzova emphasized the need to create a uniform information database that will include the relevant information on cultural heritage landmarks, routes, accommodation and other tourist infrastructure facilities.

The participants noted that solutions to the above challenges would make it possible to create a competitive tourist product that would be in demand on the domestic and inbound tourism market. This would also ensure the industry’s steady development.

The editorial group will work the proposals made during this discussion into the report to be presented to the President at the State Council Presidium meeting.
