Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office, Chairman of the Presidium of the Council for Interethnic Relations Magomedsalam Magomedov took part in the ceremony marking the 120th anniversary of the Russian Ethnographic Museum, where he read out the President’s greetings and presented the winners of the Presidential Prize for Strengthening the Unity of the Russian Nation.
In the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, at the suggestion of the Council for Interethnic Relations, the Presidential Prize was awarded to researchers of the Russian Museum of Ethnography Yelena Madlevskaya, Lyudmila Korolkova and Alexander Ostrovsky, who have been working in this field for more than 30 years and achieved significant success in implementing the project Peoples of Russia: Traditions and Heritage.
In his remarks, Magomedsalam Magomedov noted that the Russian Museum of Ethnography played an important part in the implementation of today’s state ethnic policy, and made a significant contribution to the study, preservation and popularisation of the ethnocultural traditions of the peoples of Russia, the cultivation of interethnic and interfaith communication, the formation of an all-Russian civic identity and spiritual community of the multiethnic nation of the Russian Federation.
