On the initiative of Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, the first meeting of the Coordinating Council for the Social Integration of Minors and Young Adults with Disabilities took place.
The Council will promote the best regional practices for rendering systemic assistance and supporting the social integration of minors and young adults with disabilities throughout their lives. It will also facilitate the implementation of the Commissioner’s strategic programme, Support Throughout Life, which seeks to create a system for supporting families that have children with disabilities. Earlier, this programme received support from the President.
The Council comprises officials from federal ministries, the Presidential Executive Office, the offices of the presidential plenipotentiary envoys to the federal districts, and experts. Members of the working groups are experts with experience of working at non-profit organisations and governmental institutions, as well as commissioners for children’s rights.
