Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova made a working trip to the Sverdlovsk Region.
As part of the trip, Maria Lvova-Belova met with Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Yevgeny Kuyvashev. They discussed projects to protect childhood, in particular, the forthcoming opening of the region's first public, state and church rehabilitation centre for juvenile delinquents, as well as the participation of the Sverdlovsk Region in the Children in the Family programme and in the implementation of the ombudswoman’s initiative to create a system of supported employment for adolescents.
Also, Maria Lvova-Belova took part in the Ticket to the Future national career guidance festival, which brought together the heads of federal and regional agencies, representatives of educational organisations, teachers and schoolchildren in Yekaterinburg. During the event, the Commissioner for Children's Rights spoke about plans to create supported employment services at adolescent centres. The Moscow, Astrakhan, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as the Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk territories, have already joined the project. The services should form a circle of attractive employers – state-owned and commercial companies that are ready to develop a mentoring system for adolescents and offer internships with possible further employment, which will, among other things, contribute to career guidance for young people.
