Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov chaired a seminar meeting on the implementation of the State National Policy Strategy of the Russian Federation.
The event was attended by Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov, Orenburg Region Governor Denis Pasler, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ethnic Affairs Gennady Semigin, representatives of regional and municipal authorities, members of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations, and representatives of educational organisations as well as academic and expert communities.
In his report, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov emphasised that the decisions made by the President of Russia have allowed for taking consistent efforts to implement the state national policy at all levels and laying a strong foundation to withstand the immense external pressure on the sphere of interethnic relations. He also noted that the current state of interethnic relations in most regions of the Volga Federal District is better than the national average.
The meeting participants discussed issues related to the spread of extremist ideology, high-profile crimes, mass migration of people from different cultural backgrounds, projection of conflicts in the post-Soviet space, updating historical disputes, foreign influence on the Finno-Ugric and Turkic peoples (propaganda of separatist sentiments), and others.
They mentioned a vital task of integration of new regions – the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions – into Russia’s single ethnopolitical and ethnocultural space.
Attention should also be paid to measures to reduce conflict potential among migrants and to further improve the efficiency of management and coordination of public authorities’ activities at all levels.
Following the meeting, the participants adopted relevant decisions.
As part of the working trip, Magomedsalam Magomedov and Igor Komarov met with Orenburg Region Governor Denis Pasler to discuss socioeconomic development and interethnic relations in the region.
